What is a Volunteer Firefighter?
A volunteer firefighter is someone who has a strong desire to serve their community through volunteering their time to help others. As a volunteer firefighter with WFD, you will have the opportunity to receive high level training to prepare you to respond to all hazard emergencies, attend school and community events, assist in prevention opportunities like inspections and fire investigations and many others.
As a Resident Firefighter you live at the fire station and respond to all risk emergencies including fires, medical aids, rescues, and many more. WFD responds to multiple wildland fires throughout the state and sleeper firefighters would have the opportunity to gain great on the job training while on these fires.
