Business License and Contractor Requirements
City Business License Required
All persons, companies, contractors, subcontractors, professionals, vendors, and other businesses conducting business within the municipal boundaries of the City of Weed must obtain a City business license before beginning business operations or performing work within the City.
This requirement applies whether the business:
- Maintains a permanent location within the City;
- Is based outside the City but performs work or provides services within City limits;
- Serves as a general contractor or subcontractor; or
- Is otherwise engaged in a business, trade, profession, calling, or occupation within the City.
Under Chapter 5.04 of the Weed Municipal Code, no person may conduct business within the City without first obtaining a business license and paying the applicable fee.
Obtaining a City business license does not replace any required federal, state, county, professional, contractor, building, planning, fire, health, or other permit, license, registration, or approval.
Contractor Requirements
Contractors and subcontractors performing work within the City must maintain:
- An active California contractor license appropriate for the work being performed;
- A current City of Weed business license; and
- All permits and approvals required for the project.
Contractors and subcontractors based outside the City are still required to obtain a City of Weed business license before performing work within City limits.
